Evaluations

Advanced Reader Critique

The fiction evaluation consists of two worksheets you can either add to a copyedit request or choose individually. If you choose to get a substantive edit, both of these worksheets are automatically included

The nonfiction evaluation is a worksheet you can either add to a copyedit request or choose individually.

The advanced reader critique is a combination of a book review and overall critique. I read your book and take extensive notes on it as though I am going to review it; however, instead of using the notes for a review, I send you my notes so we can discuss your book and your goals.

Copyedit

Substantive Edit

For both fiction and nonfiction alike, a copyedit consists of clarifying meaning and polishing language; editing for grammar, usage, spelling, punctuation, and other mechanics of style; checking for consistency of mechanics and internal consistency of facts.

The substantive edit (fiction only) covers an analysis of conflict, setting, characterization, items/terminology, dialogue, plot/sub-plots, and consistent grammar and spelling errors. It’s best for the first and/or second draft of a novel and should come before a copyedit.
